Bluechair

WEBTOON’s OG creator Shen has been making readers laugh and think with Bluechair for over 10 years. It’s a delightful, relatable comic, and I wanted to bring some of those episodes to life through animation. Our goal was to create a series of slice-of-life comedic shorts that felt fun and shareable, without heavy WEBTOON branding or overbearing CTAs. We wanted it to resonate with longtime fans, indie animation lovers, and anyone who appreciates Shen’s unique humor and perspective. With Shen’s thoughtful guidance, our internal animation team reinterpreted the comic’s style and pushed the visual boundaries of what the world of Bluechair could look like. While all the animations live within one collection, each short has its distinct visual flavor. It was a full team effort: from voice acting to sound design, animation, and character work, everything was created in-house. I worked closely with Shen to curate and pick the episodes that would be adapted. He created all the character sheets, and I executed all color codes; we both worked on the storyboards to make sure it was faithful to their comic. Go check out Shen’s work—you won’t be disappointed.
