New York Comic Con!

Last year, WEBTOON partnered with Duolingo to launch a mini series on the app and host a booth at New York Comic Con. The challenge? We had just two weeks to develop the entire booth concept and design all the assets.

Working as a two-person core team, consisting of me and my Art Director Judith Park, we pulled it off with the support of our incredible Sr. Visual Designer Ayisha Price, who handled the in-app and marketing assets. We collaborated across multiple teams, including marketing, Korean branding, merch, creators, and Duolingo’s team, to bring the event to life.

2024 marked WEBTOON’s very first booth at New York Comic Con, and we made it count. We collaborated with Kuway to bring the space to life on a tight deadline, opting for an eye-catching, life-size webcomic panel experience featuring 3D art cutouts and a full-sized “kidnapping van” for Duolingo. Inspired by the viral social media joke that Duo will “kidnap” users who break their streak, the van (designed by the Duolingo team) became a fan favorite photo op. Our team designed all supporting booth elements, including wall and floor art, signage, autograph boards, and motion videos. We also handled full event coverage, capturing both video and photography on-site.

Partnering Webcomic series can be read HERE 

In connection with NYCC, Duo and WEBTOON partnered to release a 5 episode mini series featuring Duo the owl. My wonderful Sr. Visual Designer, Ayisha Price, created all the in-app designs using Duo's Key art, my Art Director, Judith Park, made sure all branding elements were followed, and I oversaw the overall project to ensure we had all required items for the series launch.
