Project Goal:
During my time at WEBTOON, I had a big goal: to introduce a new style of content creation. Thanks to a veteran creator, I got the chance to pursue it.
Traditionally, WEBTOON creators focus on static webcomics, but I wanted to explore what could happen if we offered them the opportunity to create short-form animated content. These creators are full of talent, both in art and storytelling, and that’s how Rin's Fall came to be.
Although the project was ultimately canceled before Episode 1 launched, developing it was an incredibly rewarding experience. I’m proud of the work we did and grateful to the creator for trusting my vision to explore animation as a new storytelling path.
What follows is a breakdown of the pre-production we completed to bring five mini-episodes to life. The series follows Rin, a lovable weeb fail girl, as she tries to get her life together, guided by her roommates, who are living embodiments of webcomic tropes brought to life by a mischievous god.
Impact:
Creative empowerment! Not only for my internal team but for the creator as well, we went on a journey to create something not done by WEBTOON before, although cancelled at the last second, this is what sparked my passion for creative production! I love stories and making sure all creatives get to feel like they are part of something big!
Character Development:

The series consisted of 5 episodes, so we developed 5 characters to represent the webtoon tropes:
Dev & His Cursed Sword: Isekai Genre
Leon & Augustus: Romance- love triangle
Revenger: Thriller/ Action/ Revenge
God of Benevolent Mischief: Outlier, he is other and weird
Additional characters:
Fafnear: Rin's punk rock boss
Neighbor: A Sweet old woman who greets Rin every morning
Minions: God of Mischief henchmen who talk with a pop!
Rin:
Rin is our “Protagonist”. She’s a 24-year-old, grumpy, tired, and overworked convenience store worker. She does not go to school and is simply a weeb. She loves reading comics thanks to her grandpa, as they read them together before he passed.
God of Benevolent Mischief:
Serving as a cosmic trickster with a heart of gold, their purpose is to disrupt the mundane and challenge the stagnant, making sure that growth and progress flourish through chaos.
They thrive on creating moments of confusion and disorder, but always in ways that push individuals to become better.
Dev & His Cursed Sword:
He's a timid, nerdy 16-year-old student who happens to own a Level 99 cursed sword.
Gifted with the rare ability to view both his stats and those of others - including health, power level, emotional state, active effects, and more - he navigates life between fear and the responsibility that his strange talents bring.
Revenger:
Revenger is the enigmatic "Unknown" of our story. Almost nothing is certain about her, aside from her age - somewhere in her late 20s or early 30s. Her distinctive outfit includes a wide-brimmed hat that frequently gets caught in doorways and a cloak that conceals an infinite arsenal of weapons. The cloak is fastened with a single yellow button, a small yet significant detail that plays a major role in her webcomic's story.
Leon:
Leon is our “Male Lead”. He’s a 24 year old, large muscular simple minded himbo, who is infinitely optimistic and positive. His hair wags when happy and shirt changes weather when expressing his feelings.
Augustus:
Augustus is our “Secondary Lead”. He’s a 25 year old, sexy tumblr willy wonka tall man. He’s gloomy, poetic, and wise. As an avid reader he is always seen with a book in hand, leading him to make a lot of literary references. He has beautiful hair that often gets him mistaken as a woman. Above all, he is a very clumsy man!
Writing:
I created a production/checklist schedule for the creator to follow when developing the series.
Breakdown:
Title proposal: What do we want to call the series
Lore Explanations: World Building, who are the characters, basically the WHY they exist
Episode Proposal: A quick snippet of the 5 episodes with a core breakdown, what it is about, who the characters are, what it is trying to communicate, solve, or introduce?
Full Episode Scripts: Once editing was done, the creator and I fleshed out the script and set up of the episode to be storyboarded.
Timeline:
We worked on this project for 10 months from late August 2024- June 2025. I took care of all the contract work, budget, music sourcing, kick-off decks, script and character art direction and feedback, creator management, and project management. I used Discord for communication with the creator, Slack for internal comms with WEBTOON, Google Drive for all animation archives, Frame.io to provide timed notes on storyboards, and trained and led my art directors and ACD to oversee some of the production.
